Tax Tips
As bookkeepers, it is our job to stay on top of the latest tax related developments that may impact our clients work. Here are some things you should know:
February 24, 2025 - you can start filing your 2024 return online.
April 30, 2025 - Deadline to avoid any late-filing penalties.
June 15, 2025 - Deadline to file if you, your spouse or common-law partner is self-employed.
Any money owing must still be paid by April 30, 2025 to avoid interest.
The two month "tax holiday" on various items will remain in effect until February 15, 2025. That means, no GST/HST for Canadians on groceries, beverages, meals and children’s clothing.
Vehicle deduction limits will increase to 72 ¢/km for the first 5,000 km, and 66 ¢/km thereafter.
Canadians will be seeing an increase in contribution limits for RRSP, YMPE, TFSA and CPP.
The T619 Electronic Submittal Record will be updated for the 2025 tax year. You will need to include the updated version to complete your submissions.
